GLS project expected to create around 30 jobs in Kolding

GLS is preparing to open a new fulfilment centre in Kolding, Denmark, with around 30 new jobs expected to be created when the facility becomes operational. The site is planned to be ready before the 2027 peak season.

The centre will be located at Trianglen 15, approximately two kilometres from the GLS Denmark hub. Its proximity to the parcel network will support an integrated operation covering warehousing, picking, packing and delivery for small and medium-sized e-commerce businesses.

Roles in a semi-automated operation

The facility will initially provide 5,000 square metres of fulfilment space, with potential to expand to 15,000 square metres. It will use an AutoStore automated storage system and an automated sorting belt. Although the planned setup is semi-automated, the operation will still require people to support fulfilment, parcel-network coordination and site administration.

The project therefore combines new employment with a changing workplace model. Automation is intended to reduce manual handling and help the site manage increasing volumes, while employees will remain part of the processes needed to receive, prepare and dispatch customer orders.

The Kolding centre will be GLS Denmark’s first fulfilment operation. It forms part of a wider group expansion that has already established fulfilment centres in Germany, Hungary, Spain, Slovenia and Canada since 2023. More information about the employer is available from GLS.

Specific job titles, recruitment dates and required qualifications have not been announced. The confirmed employment figure is approximately 30 positions connected with the new centre.
