Ewals Cargo Care has opened a new Trucking Hub in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire, combining fleet operations with dedicated facilities for drivers and employees.
The four-acre site includes modern offices, enhanced security, driver welfare areas and training facilities. It also accommodates trucks, trailers and staff vehicles, creating a single workplace for activities that were previously split between separate administration and vehicle locations.
A stronger workplace base
The hub’s driver-focused facilities are intended to provide a safer and more professional environment for people working across the transport operation. Training space gives the company a dedicated setting for workforce development, while the consolidated layout should make communication between operational teams and drivers easier.
An outsourced maintenance partner is also stationed at the site. For drivers and fleet staff, this arrangement can support faster handling of vehicle issues and reduce the disruption caused by sending vehicles away from their planned routes. The location near the A14 and A1 further supports access to routes linking southern ports, the Midlands and northern England.
Supporting employment as operations grow
Steve Foster, UK Depot Manager, said the facility provides a long-term platform for expanding customer demand. Ewals Cargo Care has operated in the area for more than 20 years, but its previous disjointed arrangement was less suited to continued growth.
The company has not announced specific recruitment numbers. However, the new site is designed to support current operations and future expansion, with satellite facilities continuing in Immingham and Seaham. That creates a more coherent base for drivers, maintenance personnel, operational coordinators and managers as the UK and Ireland network develops.
